  11. As a number of us have, I bought a used Amiga 2000 which came without
  12. documentation for it or for any of the installed hardware. The
  13. documentation did not seem crucial since I had other Amigas, but now I 
  14. have a problem.

  16. The A2000 came with a GVP SCSI controller. The VERSION command tells
  17. me that the gvpscsi.device is version 3.7. The controller card itself
  18. is stamped with "Impact A-2000-HC Rev. 5." (I wish when I had the card out
  19. that I copied down the numbers of the chips and other components.)

  21. I have been trying unsuccessfully to get an external Reno 2x CD-ROM  
  22. to work. I have tried AmiCDRom, AmiCDFS, and the CD-ROM driver that
  23. was included in my 3.1 OS. Can someone tell me
  24.  
  25.       a) if gvpscsi.device version 3.7 is capable of dealing with
  26.          external CD-ROM drives;
  27.  
  28.       b) if it isn't and I do need a new ROM for the controller (at 
  29.          least), whether I have a Series I or Series II GVP controller.
  30.          If my board is a Series II I can presumably get the GURU-ROM.
  31.          If I have a Series I card, will the 4.xx versions of the
  32.          GVP ROMs I occasionally see advertised work (and handle a
  33.          CD-ROM drive)?

  35. Thanks in advance for any help. If the 3.7 version of the gvpscsi.device
  36. should work with CD-ROM drives, I'll buy the ASIM CD software and try it, 
  37. I guess.
